This is a pretty straightforward opt-out post. Nigel, as a character, comes from a canon that is rife with topics that could both trigger or squick individuals. Although Nigel is meant to make people uncomfortable, I also don't want him to ruin anyone else's experiences playing in the game, especially if it is going to upset any of my fellow players. Now most of this never comes up in causal conversation, obviously, but because Nigel is something of a duplicitous character, it does sometimes manifest in his internal monologue or the spam in action tags.

If you as a player or your characters would like to avoid any of the following topics, please let me know and I'll make sure to ween them out of Nigel's interactions with you.  (Please note, of the list, the first one is perhaps the hardest to avoid given its importance to  Nigel's canon.  Yes, I know, his canon is a horrible, horrible place.)
  • Necrophilia
  • Mutilation
  • Sadomasochism
  • Sexual abuse
  • Child abuse
  • Incest
Also, feel free to contact me in private by sending me a PM, if that would make you feel more comfortable.

[ The video cuts on and the screen is filled with the face of a young man, or at least part of a one. Some of it is obscured by a sweep of dark hair, other parts of it are painted red by a bloom of blood across his cheek and eyelid, up into his hairline. The impression is almost like the ring of an impact crater, only the crater is missing, leaving behind only the splash; the overall shape is smeared and made imperfect by water (is it rain? dregs from the fountain?) that drips from his hair and beads on his skin. His eyes (or eye, the other's cut off by the edge of the picture) is red rimmed and raw, its lashes stuck together and damp.

The picture shakes but there is a notable lack of breath or noise whatsoever beyond the scrape of something against gravel or cobblestone. When he speaks, the young man's voice is low and English and trembling with some sort of emotion. It's hard to tell which, though.
]

Not hell. Not eternity.

[ Those of you who once knew Nigel Colbie should recognize the voice, though his tone is markedly different. ]

What then.

[ Nigel has enough dignity to avoid the video function for this post, though the minute the audio clicks on, it's obvious by the irritated noise he makes in his throat that something is quite certainly off. His voice -- hers, really -- is pinched with annoyance. ]

I realize that I've yet to be cursed since my arrival in the City. Just as I'm well-aware that there is a proverbial first time for everything. But -- really, deities. Was this completely necessary?

[ ooc; one genderswapped nigel colbie for grab bag weekend! all replies will come from [livejournal.com profile] wellguarded. ]

[ Much like Nigel's first post, there is only silence when the device first clicks on. Eventually, though, the young man on the other end of the connection clears his throat. His tone is politely curious. ]

I've been told that the dead do not stay dead here and in ways much more involved than the occasional curse. Which leaves me wondering, City: is there no need for undertakers here?

[ There's a pause and then Nigel adds: ]  I had hoped to make myself useful.
